Camille Fortunato received her Bachelor of Science cum laude, from Boston University in 2000, where she studied public relations and political science. While at the University, Camille was the 1998 recipient of the prestigious Capstone Award for her thesis on the “Oslo Accords and its role in the Israel/Palestine Peace Process,” which also won her a scholarship for her continued studies at the University. In 1999, Camille was one of six (6) students chosen by the Dean of Boston University College of Communications to launch a new, interactive website, Pixelon.com, which linked college students across the country with music and video, in Las Vegas, NV. Her academic achievement won her recognition by the National Honor Society where she served on the 1999 Board of Officers. In the Spring of 2000, Camille interned at the Boston based Raskey/Baerlin Group, a public affairs firm which specialized in communication strategy for political campaigns. In the summer of 2000, Camille was accepted into the Boston University Washington, DC program where she served as a Congressional intern for Congressman Elliot Engel in the United States House of Representatives.
In May 2003, Camille received her Juris Doctor from New York Law School. During her studies Camille concentrated on the constitutionality of the criminal justice system in the United States and served as a Civil Procedure teaching assistant. In the summer of 2001, Camille worked in the New York County Legal Aid Society and in the summer of 2002, in the Kings County District Attorney’s Office, major narcotics unit. Completing her first year of law school in the top 10% of her class, Camille graded onto the New York Law School Journal of International and Comparative Law where she served as a Notes and Comments editor and authored “INS v. Enrico St. Cyr” a scholarly wiring which examined the constitutionality of a criminal alien’s habeas corpus right to judicial review of deportation proceedings. During that time Camille also served on the Board of Officers for the New York Law School Italian American Society.
In November 2003, Camille passed the New York and New Jersey State Bar Exams and in 2004 was admitted to practice Law in the State of New York and New Jersey and in the Federal Eastern District. Camille is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the Columbian Lawyers Association and the Catholic Lawyers Association. In her spare time, Camille is also an active fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Camille joined the firm in December 2003 and it was subsequently renamed to FORTUNATO & FORTUNATO, PLLC. Since her time with the firm Camille has experienced several multi-million dollar resolutions of her clients’ cases and has authored many successful construction accident liability motions, many of which have made pro plaintiff case law in the State of New York. In addition to her active litigation of third-party cases, Camille also oversees the entire Workers’ Compensation department at the firm.
Camille takes great pride in her work and her ability to help injured people through difficult times of their life and is grateful for the people she gets to meet and work with on a daily basis. She is married and lives with her husband and children in Brooklyn, New York.
